Detor Social Table terms

Last updated 23 September 2026. That is the version you agree to when you book.

These are the terms for a Detor Social Table seat. You agree to them when you book. The general Detor terms and the privacy policy also apply. Where this page and the general terms say different things about a table seat, this page applies.

Who you are dealing with

Detor B.V., a company registered in the Netherlands on 15 September 2026, Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number 42163696, with its registered office in Utrecht.

  • Registered address: Sonny Rollinsstraat 23, 3543 GR Utrecht, the Netherlands.
  • VAT number: not published yet.

"We", "us" and "Detor" mean Detor B.V. "You" means the person who books the seat.

What we do, and what we do not do

We arrange a seat for you at a table with other guests at a restaurant, on a date and at a time you pick. We choose who sits together, we book the table with the restaurant, and we tell you where to go and when.

We are not the restaurant. We do not cook your food, serve it or sell it to you. You order your own food and drinks at the place and you pay the restaurant for them directly. Your agreement about the meal is with the restaurant, not with us.

We do not promise that you will get on with the people at your table. We choose them with care using the answers you gave us, and that is what you are paying for.

Booking a seat

You have to be eighteen or over to book. You need a Detor account, and the details you give us have to be true. If we find out they are not, we can cancel your seat.

You may book one extra seat for one other person, a plus one, when the session allows it. You are responsible for your plus one: you make sure they know these terms, you tell us anything the kitchen needs to know about them, and if you cancel, their seat is cancelled too.

What you agree to do

  • Turn up, on time, at the place we sent you.
  • Cancel in the app as soon as you know you cannot come.
  • Tell us about allergies and anything the door needs to know, before the day.
  • Follow the house rules at the table and in the chat.
  • Pay the restaurant for what you order.

The money

A seat costs the price shown in the app when you book. Today that is five euros for a seat, two euros more for a plus one, seven euros for a couples table and nine euros for a speed dating seat. Your first Detor table is free. We can change these prices, and the price you see before you pay is the price you pay.

The fee is for arranging the seat: finding you a table, holding the seat and running the evening. It is not a deposit, it is not credit at the restaurant, and it does not pay for any of your food or drink.

Getting your money back. If you cancel more than twenty-four hours before the start, we refund your fee in full. If you cancel later than that, we do not. For a speed dating night the cut-off is forty-eight hours, because we sell women's and men's seats in equal numbers and cannot fill a seat at the last minute. Refunds go back to the card you paid with.

If we cancel, you always get your fee back in full, however late it happens. That includes a night called off because too few people booked, a table we had to close, and the times we could not find a table that suited you.

No fourteen-day cooling off. This is a leisure service on a set date, so the usual fourteen-day right to change your mind does not apply. Dutch law says so (Article 6:230p of the Civil Code, which comes from the EU Consumer Rights Directive). Our own rule above is what you have instead.

If you do not come

If you do not come and you did not cancel, you do not get your fee back, and the people at your table had an empty seat.

People at your table can tell us afterwards that somebody did not come. Nothing happens on that alone. A person on our team looks at it and decides. If you do not come to tables again and again without cancelling, we can stop you booking.

House rules

At the table and in the chat:

  • Treat everyone at the table the way you would want to be treated.
  • Do not harass, threaten, insult or touch anyone.
  • Do not sell, recruit or campaign at the table.
  • Do not take photos of people at your table without asking them.
  • Do not pass on what other people told you at the table, or their details, to anyone outside it.
  • Do not come if you are drunk or on drugs.

The full list is in the house rules in the app, and it is part of these terms.

The group chat

Every table gets a group chat. It opens an hour before the table starts and closes fourteen days after it starts. It is there for the evening and the days after it: where you are, who is at the door, who is running late, and saying thank you afterwards.

The chat is moderated. Anyone at the table can report a message. We can read a reported chat, remove messages, remove someone from the chat, and pass a message to the police where the law requires it. We keep chat messages for as long as we need them to deal with reports, and then we delete them.

Do not post anything in the chat you would not say out loud at the table. Do not share other people's contact details there. We hide phone numbers and handles in the group chat.

If you and someone from your table both choose to see each other again, a private chat opens for the two of you. These terms and the house rules apply there too. It closes when either of you changes your mind, blocks the other or deletes your account.

You can block anyone you have sat at a table with. They are not told. You no longer see their messages or their photo, they cannot write to you in a private chat, and we do not seat you at the same table again.

Allergies, diets and access

Tell us about allergies, diets and access needs when you answer the questions, or update your answers before the day. We pass them to the restaurant before you arrive.

You are still responsible for what you eat. Tell the staff about your allergy when you order. We do not cook the food and we cannot check what is in it. We do not promise that a restaurant can meet every need, and we will tell you if it cannot.

Changes, and cancelling

We can change the place your table goes to, join two small tables into one, or move you to a different table, up to and during the evening. We tell you when we do. Always go by the newest message in the app.

We can cancel a night, a table or your seat. We do that when too few people booked, when a venue cancels on us, when we cannot find a table that suits you, or when someone has broken these terms. You get your fee back in every case except when we cancelled your seat because you broke these terms.

Taking someone off

We can remove you from a table, from a night, or from Detor altogether, and we can refuse to sell you a seat, if:

  • you break the house rules;
  • somebody reports you and we decide the report is right;
  • you do not come to tables without cancelling;
  • you give us details that are not true;
  • you are under eighteen.

If we remove you for one of these reasons we do not refund your fee. We will tell you what we decided.

Your details

We explain what we collect and why in the privacy policy, and there is a short version in the app. The short version is: we use your answers to seat you, the people at your table see your first name and your pronouns, and the restaurant hears about allergies and access needs.

If something goes wrong

Tell us. Use "Report a problem" on your table page, or Help in the app. A person reads it. If you are in danger, call 112 first.

If you are not happy with how we dealt with it, write to us and we will answer. You can also take a consumer complaint to the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform.

Law and courts

Dutch law applies to these terms. If we cannot settle a dispute between us, it goes to the court in Midden-Nederland, in Utrecht. If you are a consumer, you keep whatever rights the law of your own country gives you, and you can also go to the court where you live.

Changes to these terms

We can change these terms. If we do, the terms you agreed to when you booked are the ones that apply to that booking. We will tell you about a change that matters before your next booking.
