Detor Social Table

What we collect, and why

Last updated 3 October 2026.

This is the short version, written for reading on a phone. The full privacy policy is on our website.

The short version

We ask you a few things once so we can seat you with people who fit your answers. We tell the restaurant about allergies and access needs. The people at your table see your first name and your pronouns, and once you have met, your profile photo if you added one. We do not sell your details to anyone.

What we collect

Your account. Your name, your email address, your phone number and your password, and a profile photo if you add one. We need them to let you in and to reach you about a table you booked, including on the night if something changes or goes wrong.

Your answers. Which languages you speak, the year you were born, where you grew up (if you want to say), the field you work in, how you describe yourself, what you normally spend on dinner out, how talkative you are, what you like talking about, how you eat, any allergies, anything the door should know, and your pronouns. We use them to put tables together.

Two things we work out ourselves. The part of your email address after the @, and the first part of your postcode with your surname. We use them so you are not seated with a colleague or a relative. We never show either to anyone.

Speed dating answers. If you book a speed dating night, the ages you would like to meet, whether we may match you with someone of the same gender when the numbers are uneven, and what you are looking for. Only used for that night.

Staying in touch. Your phone number, and your WhatsApp, Instagram and email if you fill them in. Nobody at your table sees them unless you and that person both choose each other afterwards.

Kudos and blocks. The kudos you give people at your table after a night, and who you blocked. Kudos are anonymous: people see how many they got, never from whom. Nobody is told that you blocked them.

Bookings and money. What you booked, when, what you paid and any refund. Your card details go straight to our payment provider. We never see or store your card number.

Chat messages. What you write in your table's group chat, and in a private chat with someone you both chose. We keep group chat messages while the chat is open and for as long as we need them to deal with a report, then we delete them.

Reports and SOS. What you tell us when you report a person or a venue. If you hold the SOS button, we take where you are at that moment (if your phone can find you) and, if your phone tells us, its battery level and its language. Our team gets all of it, with your booking. Your emergency contact gets your name, your booking and where you are. Google's map service turns the location into a street address. We never take your location at any other time.

Your phone. If you turn on notifications, we store the token your phone gives us so we can send them. Sign out, or delete the app, and we delete it.

How you use the website. We count which pages are opened and how far people get in booking a seat, without cookies and without storing your IP address or anything on your device. Each counted visit is deleted after 30 days. We don't count you if your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, or if you pressed Decline on our cookie banner. If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics also sees which pages you open and which buttons you press, so we can see what is broken. Plus the ordinary technical records every website keeps: errors and the type of browser.

Who sees what

WhoWhat they see
The people at your tableYour first name and your pronouns. Once you have met, your profile photo, if you added one. A summary of the whole table (work fields, where people grew up, languages, an age range, shared interests), never next to your name.
The restaurantAllergies, diets and access needs for the table. First names.
Someone you both chose afterwardsThe contact details you filled in, and a private chat with you.
Detor's teamEverything above, when they need it to run a night or deal with a report.
Anyone elseNothing.

What we never do

  • We never sell your details.
  • We never show your age, your budget answer, your allergies or your gender to another guest. The table summary shows one age range for the whole table, and only when at least three people gave a birth year.
  • We never show your photo to anyone but the people at your table, and only once you have met. There is no bio and nothing to browse.
  • We never track you across other apps or websites.
  • We never send you marketing you did not ask for.

How long we keep it

Your answers stay while your account is open. Bookings and payments we keep for seven years, because Dutch tax law says we have to. Group chat messages go when the chat closes, unless a report is open. A private chat stays so the two of you can read back what was said. Reports and SOS alerts we keep while we may still need them.

Deleting your account

Write to support@godetor.com from the email address on your account. An admin deals with it within a month of the day you ask, then your account and your details are anonymised.

Your rights

Detor B.V. (KvK 42163696) is responsible for your details. You can ask us for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to support@godetor.com from the email address on your account, or by post to Detor B.V., Sonny Rollinsstraat 23, 3543 GR Utrecht, the Netherlands. We answer within a month. If you are not happy with our answer you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
